PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF THERMOPLASTIC FLUORESCENT PIGMENTS BASED ON ALIPHATIC POLYUREAS AND COPOLY(UREA)URETHANES WITH FRAGMENTS OF AROMATIC SULFONAMIDE IN POLYMER CHAIN
Two step procedure for preparation of aliphatic polyureas and copoly(urea)urethanes, containing 1.5-2% of fluorescent dyes selected among coumarin and rhodamine dyes, has been proposed and investigated. On the first step the low molecular weight oligomers with isocyanate end groups were synthesized by the reaction of p-toluenesulfinamide with molar excess of isophorone diisocyanate. On the second step by condensation of prepared oligomer dispersed in aqueous solution of protective colloid, such as polyvinylpyrrolidone, with the molar amount of isophorone diamine or mixture of isophorone diamine and pentaerithritol polyureas or copoly(urea)urethanes, respectively, were prepared. After drying and grinding with jet mill the fine powder of fluorescent pigments with particle size 4-5 micron were obtained. Depending on the nature of fluorescent dyes the pigments have yellow, orange-yellow, orange, red or pink color and intense fluorescence. All prepared pigments have extremely good dispersibility , a high softening point (195-205oC), good heat resistance and resistance to organic solvents.
